Buying in the inner city under $300,000 is hard enough but what about something under $250,000?

This 1 bedroom unit in Greenslopes really is outstanding value. The sellers are keen to move on and have reduced the asking price to just $245,000.

Inside has been renovated with the bathroom looking looking particularly good. There are some other enticing features including a pool in the complex!

Moving Soon? Don't Start Packing Without This

Found this online this week. Moving house just seems to be one of those things you don't do often enough to get really good at it (or are there some serial movers out there?).

I was on the minimovers website booking my move and found their moving planner & checklist.

If you are planning a move anytime soon print this list off. It's got reminders for all the little (and big) things you generally don't think of until it's too late.

Is this the Queenslander house of the future?

An 11-metre tall house with an insulated steel roof and an easy-to-hose ground floor may be the future of homes in Queensland's flood-prone areas.

The design is one of the suggestions in a report on the January floods issued by the state's chief scientist yesterday.

Dr Geoff Garrett's Understanding Floods: Questions and Answers report was commissioned to provide scientific and engineering views on floods in general, to support the Queensland Floods of Inquiry.

One section on the future of floods asked how urban design might better cope with reducing the impact of floods in cities in and towns.

It includes a design by Brisbane architect Michael Rayner for a tri-level Queenslander-style home.

The ground floor, made from concrete and tiles, would be easy to clean after a flood, the design states, while the top floor would be a dry storage area for belongings during a flood.

The middle floor has external walls that open out to allow for easier cleaning after a flood and for ventilation.

Mr Rayner created the concept after his own him, in Brisbane's West End, was flooded in January.
